I like this thread and want to keep it going. It’s more rewarding to me than the “what machine did you buy today” thread.

Thus far, 2024 is a good year for the low end pin man. $100 spent on this game up to here…

I’m actually challenging myself to not spend a single dollar on this, only repairing the existing boards and using parts that I already have on hand. After some tedious capacitor updates and lots of IC removal/socketing, it lives and plays a game!

One useful note, only one display did anything when I first plugged it in. But I was able to recharge the other 4 and they all eventually came back to life. Replacing two 6118 ICs resolved the missing digits.

1947 Wms Cyclone. It had been in the seller's family since his great grandparents had it. LEP price of $150.

Hell yes! Anyone with a pocket full of $$$ can go out & buy a pin.
It takes a talented individual to bring these old relics back to playable condition.

I sure don’t have the skills, tools, or desire to give a game that fresh from the factory look, but they sure can be brought back to beautiful and really dialed in playable.

Three years ago I posted my $200 LEP purchase. I forgot to post the finished pictures. I spent two years and way too much, but I enjoyed the process.

Really exceptional. There couldn't be a better example out there!
I will study these pictures a few more times, thanks.

    WOW-wee!!! Excellent!

I had a '57 Gottlieb once. The cabinet quality of that era is simply outstanding. My favorite cabinet of all eras.

    Beautiful work!

    That is outstanding !

No matter what you spent, it wasn't too much.

Thank you for bringing that back to the world.

What exceptional wonderful work you have done! I'm going to save these pictures for inspiration when I have time to get after my '58 Gottlieb. Thanks for sharing and for keeping it alive.

    What a score!

    #565 46 days ago

    For player 2, yeah.

    #566 46 days ago

And it now works. It will get a new cord cleaning and going over, but it boots and scores.

Needed a project and definitely got one for $99. Best part is the playfield should clean up good with a few areas of touch up. Backbox and cabinet are obviously filthy but no cut wires that I can see and the steppers look decent.

Hopefully I can give an update in about a month.

    worthy project!

    #569 37 minutes ago

Bottom board and backbox better get clean or else they get the hose again.
    IMG_3902 (resized).jpegIMG_3902 (resized).jpegIMG_3908 (resized).jpegIMG_3908 (resized).jpeg

Just kidding. That’s all I’m doing and I think they did come pretty darn clean.
