890khz Thanks so much for the Target Pool head. It’s now next in the queue. I’m debating whether or not to make my own stencils or to just order them.

#453 1 year ago

And thanks for the trade. My "Frontiersman" now has a head with original paint on it. I hope you can put that "Lucky Hand" head to good use.

Anyone got a head for a skylab

#455 1 year ago
Quoted from Murphdom:

I was happy to help reunite a Mini Pool for a Pinsider. He had the body and I found the head on the Facebook marketplace and contacted him knowing he had it. Someone’s wife split the games apart to be petty in a divorce and they got sold off in an estate sale. I remembered the post like a year prior mentioning it somewhere where he needed it and how it happened. We are pretty sure it was the matching head. No idea where he got the body from…

Hey, that was me! Yes, the games were separated by the Wife in a divorce, I got the Target Alpha, Mini Pool and Strike Zone bodies. Though someone random had shown up to part out the Strike Zone, so it’s just an empty cabinet.

I got a Target Alpha head from 890khz and the Mini Pool head went to a pinball repair guy of some sort who died less than a year after the divorce when the heads got split it. Some other chump bought all the heads and was trying to hack a Mini Pool head onto a Target Pool body and was frustratingly ignorant and smug. Murphdom was a true rockstar for making that deal, he got the Target Pool body. I’m 90% certain based on the location, the timing, as well as the patina and graffiti that the head is indeed the original match for the body.

I believe it was 14 months total to get them back together? Works like a dream! I’ve had it at 2 shows and love that game.

I'd be tempted if you were closer.
Had two complete games, but sold them both fairly recently.

Thats what it would have been for. I bought another bottom cab from this guy and he was telling me about Surf Champ also. Playfield looks in nice shape. He wanted more than I wanted to give him, so he put it on Ebay. He is cleaning out his warehouse and has a whole load of stuff he said. He said he has a lot of arcades as well. I was only talking to him about Gottlieb EM's so not sure what other pins he has. Nice guy so far. I'll find out for sure when the machine I bought gets picked up today.

Curious question if it's not already been asked.......anyone making repo EM heads? I am sure the Gottlieb design is trademarked, but what about the others?

#471 4 months ago
Quoted from ibis:

Wouldn't be a trademark (or copyright). Design patent perhaps but would have expired long ago if they had one. Copyrights on the other hand can last a long time.

Ive got a spare wedge head or 2, what do you need?

#475 4 months ago

Reason I ask is, I can probably reproduce them but the issue is not having the original heads to copyI do have a wedge though). The other issue is time. The third issue would be material cost. Light boards are 3/4". I think some of the Williams Ems are made from 3/4 and the earlier wedgies from Gottlieb's are 1/2" for the most part, with Luan faces and cut blocks for support. Sheets of cabinet grade 1/2" or 3/4" ply are between $70-90. I would guesstimate each head costing about $200 to manufacture which would be a difficult sale for anyone.

Friend of mine just picked up a Genie head and playfield.
He’s looking for a lower cabinet. Either empty or complete.
He’s not against selling it to someone who wants to put together a Genie either

Anybody going to TPF have a Gottlieb Head they are looking to part with?

Or you could pick one up at Pinfest in May, the largest indoor pin swap meet in the country. 250-300 pins on free play (most will be for sale), plus lots of used parts dealers.

I definitely plan on checking out pinfest. I’ll be in Dallas for work during TPF so I figured it would be real easy to pick it up and fly home with it as checked luggage if theres one there.

Hello everyone. Looking for the head unit for Gottlieb Flip-A-Card. Anyone close to Minnesota. I have all the parts and backglass so I am guessing any stripped wedge head head unit would also work? Thanks!
