What say you, good people.

JCH or HWN or H78 ?

#2 2 years ago

1000% against JCH

#3 2 years ago

If you look at the backglass, JCH does appear to be the abbreviation of the name of the pinball machine.

#4 2 years ago

We could just call it WEEN

#5 2 years ago

This was over before it began haha.
HWN is the one.

#6 2 years ago

Hahah I was joking about this with my buddy yesterday

Quoted from finnflash:

I prefer HWN

#8 2 years ago

It's not a debate. HWN is the abbreviation, period. Who in their right mind would possibly think JCH is a valid option???

#9 2 years ago

JCH...

And I feel the exact opposite. I truly can't imagine anyone thinking HWN should even be considered. Someone took the first and last letter Halloween and through the W in for good measure? And Halloween is only one word of the three word title. JCH is clearly the abbreviation we should use, in my opinion.

#11 2 years ago

Wow, what are you guys gonna do with all the extra time on your hands after only typing 3 letters instead of 9?

I don't usually participate in polls..but this is life or death.

#13 2 years ago

For completeness we need a "No abbreviation/acronym needed" option. Just for those apathetic to the argument.

Halloween is a single word. Much like these other single word games --

Batman - BM
Deadpool - DP
Earthshaker! - ES
Funhouse - FH
Ghostbusters - GB

Seems like HW or HWN would win. I actually prefer HW, but would accept HWN.

JCH is my 2nd choice.
H78 makes film sense to me, but unless we're gonna also produce a Halloween-themed game on Rob Zombie's version, I don't see the point of this one.

Yep, but damn Hotwheels stole the HW option. So HWN it is, and it's not even close.

Relationships will be destroyed over this groundbreaking decision. My vote is for H78.

Notice the thread title is not "The Great John Carpenter's Halloween Abbreviation Debate".

CRAP

With how much I was seeing JCH, I thought it would have more then 3 votes. Those were 3 very loud people.

I didn't think it would fit. I definitely thought about that.

#20 2 years ago

Over before it started.

HWN!

Me too. I've learned my skills at persuasion are very suspect.

HWN FTW

There's just no confusion. If you are talking about movies, unless you specify Rob Zombie's Halloween, everyone assumes you're talking about the original by John Carpenter. I think the best argument for JCH would be Bram Stoker's Dracula. But with Dracula there has just been so much material that unless you specify it's unclear that you're talking about the original book or subsequent movie.

We don't call Mandalorian, Star Wars the Mandalorian. But the pin displays that multiple times.

I’ve always believed James Cameron’s Avatar (JCA) is criminally underrated.

oh it's not John Carpenter's Avatar? I might of liked the scarier version better.....

Seeing as how the VP is a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT, because if it leaks to the VC and he ends up MIA we will all be on KP.

It really needs to be HWN, because it is three syllables, just doesn't look right the other ways.

If we really care about syllables that would suggest HLW.

HWN has clearly won, but I think it's the dumbest thing, no offense to those who like it. It's like referring to Mustang as MTG or Barracora as BCRA which are both equally as terrible.

#41 2 years ago

So... and this is just a suggestion... but why not all three?
It is likely trivial to have 3 different nicknames point to the same game, depending on how they are linked in the underlying database.

That way no matter what you like, or type, it'll work out.

Can't we all just get along?

#42 2 years ago

Does anybody think the reason why Spooky likes H78 is because they might be considering a follow up game? Maybe a H82. It would be totally a different theme (no Michael Myers) and right up Spooky’s alley.

#43 2 years ago

While I am for HWN, I would just like to throw out that BSD is the typical abbreviation for Bram Stoker's Dracula.

#44 2 years ago

Yes, BUT...there is a Dracula pin that predates it so it got BSD. This is the first Halloween pin so HWN.

Quoted from tjw998:

#45 2 years ago

Let's call them all to save time:

TS - Toy Story
GZA - Godzilla
EVD - Evil Dead
MTX - The Matrix
F13 - Friday the 13th
MAX - Mad Max
SCD - Scooby Doo
PDR - Predator

And for all the Grandad rock band pins that will inevitably appear:

SHT or CRP - take your pick.

Always been too embarrassed to ask but can someone please identify what game ACDC is : )

Alice Cooper and the Devils Cave. Great game.

And we call the pin that predates it Dracula not DLA or DCLA by taking random letters out of the one word. That is why HWN seems so wrong to me. Just use Halloween we don't want to use the actual initials.

No. They like H78 because they are horror movie fans. H78 is commonly used to clarify since there are three different movies in the franchise all simply named "Halloween". That isn't a problem for the pinball. Now if next year they give us one based on the Rob Zombie remake, then H78 would make sense.
